Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the significant City service of Celia Behrend Liss and congratulates her on her retirement; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, January 2, 2024, to be "CELIA BEHREND LISS DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Celia "CJ" Behrend Liss began working for the City of Pittsburgh in 1994 and has served both City Council District 8 and the Law Department; and,

 

WHEREAS, with limited exception, CJ is a lifelong Pittsburgher from Squirrel Hill and an alumna of Duquesne University School of Law, Chatham College, Taylor Allderdice High School, and Wightman School; and,

 

WHEREAS, CJ's hard work for the Law Department has included zealously representing the City's interests in building code compliance matters, real estate law, and as the Open Records Officer; and,

 

WHEREAS, CJ is the City of Pittsburgh's expert in the Right-to-Know Law, working many nights and weekends to ensure the public receives records and responses under tight statutory deadlines; and,

 

WHEREAS, at the beginning of her service to the City of Pittsburgh, CJ was a mother to three young children and a wife of 13 years to Robert and is now mother to three adult children, grandmother to four young children, and a wife of 42 years to Robert; and,

 

WHEREAS, after a nearly 30-year career of service to her community, making many friends along the way, CJ will retire from the City in January 2024 and transition to cherishing more time with her grandchildren.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the significant City service of Celia Behrend Liss and congratulates her on her retirement; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, January 2, 2024, to be “CELIA BEHREND LISS DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
