WHEREAS, Chatham College women's tennis team won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference team championship with a 6-0 record; and
WHEREAS, This was Chatham's first season in the AMCC; and
WHEREAS, West Allegheny graduate and Chatham senior Sarah Rosso won at #3 singles; and
WHEREAS, Butler High School graduate and Chatham sophomore Beth Wolensky won at #4 singles; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Wolensky teamed with Chatham junior Kristen Willard to win the #2 doubles pairing; and
WHEREAS, Japanese national and Chatham junior Reina Umeki won at #6 singles; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Umeki paired with Fox Chapel High School graduate and Chatham sophomore Sarah Steward to win at #3 doubles; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Umeki was named Newcomer of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the Chatham women's tennis team coach and Chatham alumna Danni Piccolo was named Coach of the Year;
WHEREAS, other team members include Jamie Baker, Sarah Miller, Monet Morris, Melissa Palmer; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED; The Council of the City of Pittsburgh, hereby recognizes and thanks the Chatham College women's tennis team for their commitment to excellence and the honor they have thus brought the City of Pittsburgh.
