Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend; Bishop Loran E. Mann for his inspirational and visionary leadership; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 8 , 2012, to be “Bishop Loran E. Mann Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Dr. Loran Edward Mann was born in Orman, Florida.  The son of Rev. William and Louise Mann, moved to the Pittsburgh area at the age of 12 where he attended Westinghouse High School. He later went on to continue his spiritual education at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Dr. Mann was later appointed pastor of the First Baptist Church of Braddock where he began his pastoral career.
 
WHEREAS, On May 11, 1974, Dr. Mann married Barbara Herron and had two children, Tiana and Loran E. Mann, II. In the succeeding years Barbara has played an important part in building the church; and,
 
WHEREAS, In March of 2005, Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell appointed Pastor Mann as member of the Public Television Network Commission, which oversees all public TV stations in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and,     
 
WHEREAS, On November 7, 2011, His Eminence, The Most Reverend Bishop Charles E. Blake, Chief Apostle and Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ appointed Dr. Loran E. Mann Bishop of the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Vermont which encompasses the Bridgeport Connecticut and Pittsburgh areas.  
 
WHEREAS, On Friday, June 8, 2012, the congregations will celebrate the Episcopal Celebration for Bishop Loran E. Mann at the Westin Convention Center Hotel located at 1000 Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh; and,
