WHEREAS, Ashley Cabiness is the Co-Founder of Westside CARES, a community organization designed to support civic and social events and promote safer and healthier communities; and,
WHEREAS, Westside CARES has supported a range of community initiatives, including youth job training, free tax assistance for young adults, neighborhood block parties, transportation to events and food banks, and services for seniors; and,
WHEREAS, Ashley also serves as Program Manager for South Pittsburgh ACTES (Achieving Change Through Transitional Employment Services), which works to prevent violence in Pittsburgh’s South Side Hilltop communities using a trauma-informed approach; and,
WHEREAS, ACTES provides a yearlong support program for high-risk individuals, offering coaching, and assistance with basic needs, in partnership with outreach groups like Reach and Cure Violence. They also offer paid Cognitive Behavioral sessions and Transitional job skills training; and,
WHEREAS, in May 2025, Ms. Cabiness was honored by The New Pittsburgh Courier as one of the Fab 40 under 40 Class of 2025 for her service to Pittsburgh communities and her volunteerism; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh proudly recognizes Ashley Cabiness for her outstanding service to our communities and congratulates her on being named to the Fab 40 under 40 Class of 2025; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 14, 2025 to be “Ashley Cabiness Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
