WHEREAS, Ray Amelio has served as most recent president of Amen Corner where he has served successfully as for one year; and
WHEREAS, Amen Corner celebrates its 140th year as one of the oldest, most prestigious organizations in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, an organization that attracts men and women from all backgrounds to discuss a variety of subjects, host guest speakers of many backgrounds and attract members of the highest social, political and business backgrounds and which continues to experience unprecedented growth in membership, board composition, diversity and member events; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Amelio is currently Managing Director and Vice-President, Director of Marketing at Fragasso Financial Advisors and is responsible for marketing, client acquisition, organizing corporate and college financial education seminars, working with the firm's existing client base to obtain referrals and new business and, also, promotes Fragasso Financial Advisors through various networking opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Amelio graduated from Duquesne University and received a Masters Degree in Human Resources Management from LaRoche College and also served with the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and as a Field Corpsman with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam; and
WHEREAS, in addition to The Amen Corner Board of Governors, Mr. Amelio serves on the Board of the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania and is a board member of the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Amelio and his wife Paula have two married children and one granddaughter;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends Ray Amelio for his hard work and commitment to Amen Corner and does hereby declare Thursday, December 9, 2010 to be "Ray Amelio Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
