WHEREAS, the historic Sheraton Station Square, which has been the host of numerous union banquets and other events has hired an out-of-state, non-union contractors to do construction work at the facility; and,

WHEREAS, in addition, it was discovered that the hotel was illegally and dangerously working without the required permits from the City of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh Department of Permits, Licensing and Inspections (PLI) has charged Sheraton Station Square with three violations and an immediate Stop Work Order, which has been ignored by the hotel and its contractors; and,
WHEREAS, refusing to work without proper permits is potentially putting the workers in danger and could have the potential of harming future patrons if the work was not done properly; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby express its concern about acceptable business practices being ignored by Sheraton Station Square management and support our local unions; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Will of Council shall be presented to the Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh.
