WHEREAS, in 1990, Karla Boos founded Quantum Theatre as a company that would combine the influences of world culture and the trends happening in the world theater scene; and
WHEREAS, Quantum Theatre performs contemporary plays from around the world, updated classics and its own original works in venues all over the city that aren't theaters, including parks, warehouses and museums; and
WHEREAS, Quantum Theatre will commence its 20th season with the world premier of The Howling Miller, which will run from July 29th to August 22nd at the Frick Environmental Center; and
WHEREAS, the season will continue with When the Rain Stops Falling, beginning in October, and Maria de Buenos Aires, beginning in March of next year; and
WHEREAS, as part of the 20th anniversary, Quantum Theatre has established an artistic residency program in the communities surrounding Penn Avenue and will host community nights to thank the neighbors of those communities for welcoming the company and its performances.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Quantum Theatre for 20 years of creation and innovation in theater performance and for working to create unique partnerships with communities; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 29, 2010, "Quantum Theatre Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
