WHEREAS, Pittsburgh is proud to host the World Premiere of "The Secret Letters of Jackie and Marilyn", at the Pittsburgh Public Theater, November 9 through December 10, 2006; and
WHEREAS "The Secret Letters of Jackie and Marilyn" was written by Mark Hampton and Michael Sharp and directed by Leonard Foglia, this world premiere depicts a friendship between the two most glamorous women on the planet and is a seductive mix of history, gossip, and fiction; and
WHEREAS "The Secret Letters of Jackie and Marilyn" stars three outstanding actresses, Gretchen Egolf in the role of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, is also known for roles in such shows as "Without a Trace," "Law and Order," and "Martial Law"; Carole Shelley, as Patty, most recently seen in "Bewitched" with Nicole Kidman; and Heather Tom, as Marilyn Monroe, her credits include "The Young and the Restless," "One Life to Live" and "Monk" just to name a few; and
WHEREAS this season, the Pittsburgh Public Theater's 32nd, will produce not one, but two major world premieres. The second which begins performance in April is a new musical entitled "The Glorious Ones." The Pittsburgh Public Theater plays an invaluable role in the creation of new works.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the writers, directors, cast and crew of "The Secret Letters of Jackie and Marilyn" and applaud Ted Pappas and the Pittsburgh Public Theater for premiering this world class production in the City of Pittsburgh.
