• Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognize and congratulate the Baby Twerps Football Team and the coaches for their awesome performance and wish them the very best in their future endeavors.

Whereas the Baby Twerps Football Team of Garfield, after defeating Wilkinsburg

35-0 at Couples Stadium won their third championship, finishing the season undefeated; and

Whereas, the 2006 season began July 11^th. In order to win the championship the Baby Twerps  played Homewood, Northside, Lincoln and Lemington, Clairton, Kingsley Association, Wilkinsburg  and the Hill District Football teams.; and

Whereas, the Baby Twerps Football Team ages range from five through seven, is one of four divisions in the Allegheny County Midget Football League. The other football teams associated with the League are the Twerps, ages six through eight, the Termites, ages nine and ten, Mighty Mights, ages eleven and twelve and the Midgets, ages thirteen and fourteen; and

Whereas, the Baby Twerps Football team was founded in 1994 by the Garfield Youth Sports program which includes eight teams, 4 football teams and 4 cheerleading squads under the banner of the Garfield Gators and the Gatorettes; and

Whereas, the Baby Twerps Football Team is funded through grants and donations and provide their own transportation to every game.
