Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh proclaims the month of May 2004 as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body
      WHEREAS, the Governor of Pennsylvania has proclaimed the month of May to be Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month in Pennsylvania; and
 
WHEREAS, all motorists should unite in the safe sharing of roadways throughout the City of Pittsburgh; and
 
      WHEREAS, over 70% of multi-vehicle accidents involving a motorcycle are the direct fault of the motor vehicle operator; and
 
      WHEREAS, ABATE (Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education) is dedicated to increasing motorist awareness of sharing the road with motorcyclists in a safe and competent manner, thereby decreasing injuries and fatalities to motorcycle riders.
