WHEREAS, the Banksville Athletic Association (BAA) was founded over 50 years ago as a youth baseball program and today offers both youth baseball and softball with the purpose of promoting active citizenship and social inclusion of youth for healthy lifestyles through physical and social activities; and,
WHEREAS, the BAA is a place where youth build essential life skills such as teamwork, patience, self confidence, and leadership; and,
WHEREAS, the BAA takes pride in the fact that it is a program that has been a building block for many successful high school and college athletes; and,
WHEREAS, parent volunteers and coaches of the Banksville Athletic Association work together to send the same encouraging messages to the youth at all times and to reinforce each child's positive experience; and,
WHEREAS, Banksville Athletic Association is committed to building a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for the Banksville Community and sustaining the quality of life for its citizens; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Banksville Athletic Association for its commitment to the families of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 15, 2012, to be "Banksville Athletic Association Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
