WHEREAS, the 2005-2006 Boys' Basketball Team from Bishop Canevin High School finished a historic basketball season setting a new standard of excellence for the basketball program; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Canevin won its first W.P.I.A.L. Section Title in school history, finished as the W.P.I.A.L. Runner-up in the Class AA Championship, advanced to the P.I.A.A. Quarterfinals and finished with an overall record of 26 wins and 5 losses, setting a new record for the most wins since the 1968-1969 season; and
WHEREAS, the team consists of Seniors Matt Romano, Antonio DiMaria, Dominic DiPaolo, Mike Midgley, Devin D'Amico, Richard Eberlein and Robert Eberlein; Juniors Dan Baker, Tom Kaczorowski, Kevin Smith, Zach Gallagher, Kevin Nee, Dan Gustine, Eric Alioto and Mike Bialek; and Sophomores Steve Mackin and Brian Billigen; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Rich Brennan and Assistant Coaches Adam Kaufman, John Gulakowski and Paul Eberlein, the team achieved a level of success that no other boys basketball team has reached in the history of Bishop Canevin High School; and
WHEREAS, these extremely dedicated and hard working players and coaches helped to restore pride in the Bishop Canevin Boys' Basketball Team which brought together a community of parents, students, fans and alumni who supported and rallied around the team all season long.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby congratulates the Bishop Canevin Boys' Basketball Team on a fantastic season and commends them on their accomplishments.
