WHEREAS, Raymond Volpatt Sr. is a lifelong Pittsburgher who spent his early years in Beltzhoover, graduated from St. Justin’s High School, and earned a degree in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1961 and,

WHEREAS, after working for two of the region’s largest construction companies, Mr. Volpatt founded Volpatt Construction in 1991, which he developed into a reliable-as-a-rock favorite of Western Pennsylvania universities, hospitals, and churches, completing over 800 projects; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Volpatt’s team at Volpatt Construction is made up of the region’s best construction employees, and as such, Mr. Volpatt and his sons treat everyone who works for the company as family; many of those who work for Volpatt Constructions have been with the company for a number of years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Volpatt’s visual impact is seen across the city at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Carnegie Libraries of Mt. Washington and Beechview, St. Peter Church on the Northside, Shadyside Presbyterian Church, and many projects in the historic Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 2023, Mr. Volpatt and his team at Volpatt Construction were chosen to restore the historic Carnegie Music Hall of Pittsburgh, including restoration of the grand proscenium arch, as well as new seating, flooring, lighting, and HVAC.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Mr. Volpatt has demonstrated that he has and will continue to ensure that the historic past of Pittsburgh reflects the future of our great city.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, July 20, 2023 to be “Raymond Volpatt Sr. Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
