WHEREAS, Bishop Leonard Lions Boys Varsity Basketball Team is comprised of seventh and eighth graders: Brian Baldrige, Nick Bayer, Steven Brody, John Coll, Jesse Ferko, Nick Fratangelo, Joe Frick, Eric Greiner, Andrew Herrle, Nick Herrle, Brandon Knerr, Nathan McArdle, Jacob Presken, Craig Szablewski, Troy Valeriani, Tyler Valeriani and Ryan Walsh; and
WHEREAS, throughout the 2003-2004 basketball season, Bishop Leonard Lions Boys Varsity Team's overall section record was 11 wins and 1 loss; and
WHEREAS, this year was the first time that Bishop Leonard Lions Varsity Basket Ball Team played in Varsity play-offs since 1991; and
WHEREAS, on Thursday, February 12, 2004, Bishop Leonard Boys Varsity Team won the South Section II A Championship with a 34-27 win over Our Lady of Grace; and
WHERES, this week-end the Varsity Boys were the championship team of the St. Mary of the Mount 2004 "Back Yard Brawl Basketball Tournament"; and
WHEREAS, Coaches Dan Kozel and Jack Walsh successfully worked with the Varsity Boys constantly giving them the added confidence and skills needed in creating a winning team.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Brian Baldrige, Nick Bayer, Steven Brody, John Coll, Jesse Ferko, Nick Fratangelo, Joe Frick, Eric Greiner, Andrew Herrle, Nick Herrle, Brandon Knerr, Nathan McArdle, Jacob Presken, Craig Szablewski, Troy Valeriani, Tyler Valeriani and Ryan Walsh on their extraordinary team spirit and team work, and congratulates them on their South Section II A Championship win.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh wishes them the best during the Diocesan Championship playoff games and declares March 2, 2004 "Bishop Leonard Lions Boys Varsity Team Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
