Title

Resolution providing that the City of Pittsburgh enter into a professional services contract or contracts with Ford & Council for the purpose of providing legal counsel for defense of workers' compensation and heart and lung claims.  Cost not to exceed $53,769.00.

 

Body

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby enacts as follows:

 

Section 1.  The Mayor and the Director of Personnel and Civil Service Commission, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized to enter into a contract or contracts in a form or forms approved by the City Solicitor to:

 

a.                     Engage in legal counsel for defense of workers' compensation and Heart and Lung Act claims, to include subrogation, against the City at a cost not to exceed $53,769.00 (Fifty Three Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty Nine Dollars) chargeable and payable from Code Account 44-9, Workers' Compensation Program Medical/Administration, Index Code 004499, Account 574300, Fund 1000, Organization 999300, Sub Class 040, and Budget Year 2002, Department of Personnel and Civil Service Commission.

 

         That the City Controller shall encumber funds, subject to there being funds appropriated by City Council in the same fiscal year in Code Account 44-9, Workers' Compensation Program Medical/Administration, Index Code 004499, Account 574300, Fund 1000, Organization 999300, Sub Class 040, and Budget Year 2002, Personnel and Civil Service Commission.
