Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Lou Martin and congratulates him for his 25 years in the ring; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Saturday, October 19, 2024 to be "Lou Martin Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Lou Martin grew up on Pittsburgh's North Side as a fan of all sports. A talented athlete, he tried just about every sport, but professional wrestling quickly became a passion. He was a fan of the charismatic "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Piper's quick wit and resilience was an inspiration for the prospective grappler; and,

WHEREAS, in 1999, Martin joined friends who aspired to be professional wrestlers. He and others, including long-time friend and oftentimes foe Shawn Blanchard, started their in-ring careers later that year. Lou's first match was in September, 1999; and,

WHEREAS, Martin then wrestled on the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (KSWA)'s inaugural event at Peabody High School on February 18, 2000, where he bested "The Misfit" Jeff Lockhart and he has never looked back; and,

WHEREAS, a former VIP, multi-time tag team and Golden Triangle Champion, Lou Martin is the unquestioned "The Face of Pittsburgh." He is the three-time, reigning and defending KSWA Heavyweight Champion, but also a community leader; and,

WHEREAS, twenty-five years later, Martin has worked alongside charities such as Connecting Champions, which partners children and young adults with cancer to professionals in their chosen field. More recently, Martin and the Megastars of the KSWA have befriended Partners for Quality, a family of nonprofit organizations supporting persons with intellectual disabilities, autism and behavior health challenges; and,

WHEREAS, while Martin has been in the ring with the likes of Demolition and the Rock n Roll Express, "The Face of Pittsburgh" has defended The Richest Prize in the Commonwealth--the KSWA Championship-against dozens of challengers with integrity, grit and determination; and,

WHEREAS, as a family man, Lou Martin is a beloved son, brother, husband, father and friend. Lou Martin is among the best of Pittsburgh; and,
