WHEREAS Rev. Jason Barr, Jr. is currently the senior pastor of the Macedonia Baptist Church on Bedford Avenue in the Hill District. For 20 years, Pastor Barr has served the church as pastor, inspired members of the congregation, and started many initiatives to benefit the greater community; and
WHEREAS under the leadership of Pastor Barr, Macedonia's congregation has grown to over 3000 members and 3 Sunday worship services with increased attendance. Pastor Barr's vision has also inspired the founding of Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center, a non-profit organization that operates social service programs such as the Macedonia Counseling Center, Ammons Recreation Center, HIV and AIDS education, among many more; and
WHEREAS Pastor Barr's commitment to the Hill District community also extends to many other endeavors including inspiring the creation of The Macedonia Development Corporation, an organization which is involved with economic development and housing in the Hill District. In addition to this, Pastor Barr is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center, an organization which he founded to help the church more effectively reach out to the community; and
WHEREAS overcoming his own personal struggle of dealing with a brain aneurism and selflessly continuing to promote growth in the church and community, those who have seen his relentless commitments in action refer to him as a "haven of hope on the Hill".

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby wish to honor and recognize Rev. Jason Barr, Jr. for his twenty years of service to the Hill District community and to the City of Pittsburgh.
