Title: WHEREAS, on September 18th, 2007, Dr. Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, gave his "Last Lecture" on campus which was titled, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams;" and WHEREAS, the complete lecture has been viewed by more than 2.5 million people and featured on "Good Morning America," "ABC World News," "CBS Evening News," and "Oprah;" and WHEREAS, in his lecture, Dr. Pausch discussed his own childhood dreams, the lessons he learned from setbacks, and his career; and WHEREAS, in addition to his work at CMU, Dr. Pausch has worked with the University of Virginia, Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, Adobe Systems, Walt Disney Imagineering, Google.com, and Media Metrix, Inc.; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pausch co-founded CMU's Entertainment Technology Center and developed "Alice", a free software program for 3-D animation for high school and college students which has been downloaded over one million times in the last year; and WHEREAS, Dr. Pausch ...

WHEREAS, on September 18th, 2007, Dr. Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, gave his "Last Lecture" on campus which was titled, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams;" and
 
WHEREAS, the complete lecture has been viewed by more than 2.5 million people and featured on "Good Morning America," "ABC World News," "CBS Evening News," and "Oprah;" and
 
WHEREAS, in his lecture, Dr. Pausch discussed his own childhood dreams, the lessons he learned from setbacks, and his career; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh honors Dr. Randy Pausch for his contributions to the computer science field and Carnegie Mellon University and thanks him for sharing his "Last Lecture" with the Pittsburgh community and the world; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares November 19th, 2007 "Randy Pausch Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
