WHEREAS, CISA is an alternative high school run by Communities in Schools of Pittsburgh-Allegheny County and offers standards-based curriculum in two high-quality instructional programs for at-risk students throughout the Pittsburgh region who want to graduate; and,
WHEREAS, CISA students were selected as one of 100 nationally recognized State Farm Good Neighbor Service Learning Award winners administered by Youth Service America and funded by State Foundation; and,
WHEREAS, CISA advocates that every child needs and deserves a chance to give back to peers and community; and,
WHEREAS, on Friday April 16, 2004 National Youth Service Day, CISA students will join University of Pittsburgh Interns and Chatham College environmental volunteers to spend the day at Frick Environmental Center in the Frick Woods Nature Reserve.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate CISA students for their commitment and hard work in obtaining the State Farm Good Neighbor Service Learning Award and extend best wishes for their future endeavors; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, April 16, 2004, as "Communities in Schools Academy Day" here in the City of Pittsburgh.
