Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Keith Smith upon his retirement; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, December 31, 2024, to be "Keith Edward Smith Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Keith Edward Smith was born and raised in the Sheraden neighborhood of Pittsburgh to his late parents, Donis and Edward Smith. He has a younger sister, Cindy and he had a twin brother, Kirk, who sadly passed away earlier this year; and,

WHEREAS, Keith graduated from Langley High School in 1975. He played in the All-City Band and was recognized as the city's 2nd best trumpet player. After high school, Keith met the love of his life, Teresa Schubert, through his best friend (and now uncle), Arch Schubert; and,

WHEREAS, at the age of 17, Keith began his career at Mellon-Stuart Construction, quickly rising through the ranks after being entrusted with estimating projects which he did quickly and efficiently, including high-profile ones like IBM's World Headquarters in New York. He then worked briefly at Massaro before joining Mascaro Incorporated as one of its first three employees. Over 18 years, Keith became the Chief Estimator, learning the importance of honesty, integrity, and client relationships from Jack Mascaro. Keith transitioned to Zambrano Construction as Vice President but was let go due to the recession in 2009; and,

WHEREAS, drawing on his years of experience and client relationships, he founded Smith Construction Consulting in 2009, working with major construction firms in the city such as PJ Dick, Trumbull, Mascaro and Graziano, to name a few. Two years later he established Smith Construction Management, which is now nearing its 15th anniversary; and,

WHEREAS, he is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sheraden, serving as Club President twice, Treasurer, Lt. Governor, and Trustee for Pennsylvania Kiwanis. He has been named Kiwanian of the Year twice, most recently in 2018, alongside his wife for their outstanding service to the Sheraden community and Pittsburgh. Additionally, Keith has been Vice President of the West End Pulaski Club for over 15 years and now serves on its board of directors; and,
