WHEREAS, St. Benedict the Moor Boys Varsity Basketball Team is comprised of seventh and eighth graders: Alexander Canton, Stephen Canton, Eric Carter, Mario Davis, Michael Furby, Joseph Harris, Anthony Horne, Jr., Christopher Jones, Kent King, Earnest Lynch, Joseph Morgan-Lee, Jumbe Phiri, Lee Stoudemire, Joshua Townsend, Gregory White and Jacquin Wynn; and
WHEREAS, throughout the 2003-2004 basketball season, St. Benedict the Moor Flames Boys Varsity Team completed their regular season undefeated with an overall section record of 14-0; and
WHEREAS, the varsity team won in the last seconds of the game (33-30) against Holy Spirit School early in the season, which gave the boys extra confidence to go on and win the Section - North 1 B Title; and
WHEREAS, the team went on to play in the Section 1 B playoff games where they made it to the final 4 round; and
WHEREAS, Coaches Anthony Horne, Sr. and Sean Horne successfully worked with the Varsity Boys constantly giving them the added support and skills needed in creating a winning team. Both Coaches are graduates of St. Benedict the Moor School.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend St. Benedict the Moor Boys Varity Basketball Team on their extraordinary team spirit and team work, and congratulates them on their North 1 B Title win.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh and declares April 20, 2004 "St. Benedict the Moor Flames Boys Varsity Basketball Team Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
