WHEREAS, in 2008, the level of cleanliness along East Carson Street was targeted by the South Side Local Development Company as in critical need of improvement; and
WHEREAS, in order to further its mission of economic development, the South Side Local Development Company made an organizational priority of ensuring that East Carson will be cleaned regularly by a visible cleaning crew; and
WHEREAS, in 2008, South Side Local Development Company formed and funded the East Carson Street Clean Team, with Ron Goings and DaVar Cutler, to work a combined seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, Ron Goings and DaVar Cutler, as the East Carson Street Clean Team, work hard sweeping litter, trash, and debris from sidewalks and street gutters; removing stickers, graffiti and handbills from public infrastructure such as light poles, trash receptacles, telephones, bike racks; removing weeds in the public right of way and removing snow and ice from the ADA intersection ramps; and
WHEREAS, the East Carson Street Clean Team has effectively assisted the South Side's economy by making the business district cleaner and more visitor-friendly, and consequently a more successful and sustained tax base for the City of Pittsburgh; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does, hereby, recognize and commend the South Side Local Development Company's East Carson Street Clean Team for their dedication and service to the East Caron Street business district of Pittsburgh.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, proclaim Tuesday, September 27th, 2011, to be East Carson Street Clean Team Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
