Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the 10th Annual Farm to Table Pittsburgh Conference and the organization's staff for its decade of service and dedication to making Pittsburgh committed to locally-sourced produce; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 18th to be "Pittsburgh Farm to Table Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Farm to Table Pittsburgh, a local food and healthy eating program organized by the American HealthCare Group, has helped bring together consumers and local food producers in Pittsburgh, resulting in benefits for the City's health and the economy; and,

WHEREAS, eating locally-sourced food reduces the environmental waste that occurs from transporting food to our homes and restaurants from thousands of miles away, supports our local economy and neighbors, encourages healthier eating and connects consumers and producers to stronger bonds within the community; and,

WHEREAS, Farm to Table Pittsburgh engages the community in on-site group education programs on issues such as local food access and best practices in addressing schools, businesses, community organizations, and others; and,

WHEREAS, ten years ago Farm to Table Pittsburgh organized and hosted its first local food conference in Pittsburgh dedicated to bringing together like-minded people from every part of the food supply chain to network, learn, and share about the importance of locally-sourced food; and,

WHEREAS, in effort to remove barriers for people to receive information and healthy food in Western Pennsylvania, American HealthCare Group offers free admission to the conference for all recipients of SNAP, WIC, and Medicaid as well as seniors 65 and over; and,

WHEREAS, in 2016, after a decade of service to the Pittsburgh community, Farm to Table Pittsburgh is hosting its 10th Annual Local Food Conference at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on March 18th and 19th that will include workshops and panels with farmers, food producers, distributors, restaurant owners, wineries, and more; and,
