Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate the profound impact of Patricia Wilde's career not only at The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, but to the world for her magnificent contributions the art of ballet; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, February 22, 2019 to be "Patricia Wilde Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Patricia Wilde faithfully served the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre as the theatre's fourth ever Artistic Director from 1982 - 1997, providing the Pittsburgh community with superb artistic experiences through the art of ballet; and,

WHEREAS, prior to joining the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre in 1982, Patricia Wilde became a highly acclaimed ballet performer working with legendary American ballet choreographer George Balanchine at the New York City Ballet company as Principal Dancer from 1950 - 1965, performing over 18 original roles created specifically for Ms. Wilde due to her extraordinary level of skill in ballet; and,

WHEREAS, Patricia Wilde has served as an influential force for numerous ballet institutions including Director of The Harkness Ballet School, Ballet Company Teacher, Ballet Mistress & Director at the School of American Ballet, and Co-Founder of the school of Ballet de Grand Th??tre de Gen?ve; and,

WHEREAS, Patricia Wilde has received the following astounding accolades highlighting both her success and impact on the world of international ballet: Dance Magazine Award "for her invaluable work as an educator, dancer and director." in 2013, National Museum of Dance's 56th Hall of Fame inductee where Ms. Wilde was inducted into the Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt
Whitney Hall of Fame for her Lifelong Achievement in Dance in 2016; and,

WHEREAS, Patricia Wilde brought boundless innovation, progress, creativity, and growth to the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre during her 15 year tenure as the theatre's Artistic Director; and,

WHEREAS, Patricia Wilde expanded Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's repertoire to include the work of Fokine, Nijinska, Tudor, Ashton, Alvin Ailey, Paul Taylor, Jir? Kyli?n, more than 20 of Balanchine's masterworks, and commissioned 32 original ballets of her own conception; and,
