WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh is celebrating its 250th birthday; the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association is celebrating its 10th Anniversary and hosting its 8th Annual Step Trek to celebrate our neighborhood and its timeless appeal; and
WHEREAS, Step Trek will take place this year on Sunday, October 5, 2008, and will provide trekkers with a self -guided tour which will explore tree-shrouded paths and secluded passageways; highlight the history of the neighborhood; present exquisite vistas of the city and offer a sense of discovery and accomplishment upon reaching the highest reaches of the neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, one person, above all others, has been vital to the continued growth and success of Step Trek, having been involved with Step Trek since its very beginning and continuing today as its leader and driving force, that person is Beverly Boggio; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Boggio has been involved with the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association, since its inception, serving on the Board for ten years; stewarding gardens; organizing and participating in clean ups; writing and editing the monthly newsletter; working on the Outreach and Elm Street Committees and so much more; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Boggio opened her home to the neighborhood and it became the unofficial headquarters for the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association, during its early years, hosting neighborhood gatherings and board meetings; and
WHEREAS, because of all that Beverly Boggio has done, the time she has sacrificed and the effort she has made, the South Side Slopes is a stronger community;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that, in recognition of her efforts and dedication, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, congratulate and commend Beverly Boggio for all that she has done, and continues to do, to promote Step Trek and the South Side Slopes.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Sunday, October 5, 2008 shall be known as Beverly Boggio...
