WHEREAS, The Renaissance City Choir is a leading contributor to the cultural life of the tri-state area and builds bridges both within the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and with the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1985, the Renaissance City Choir is now celebrating its 25th anniversary of performing challenging contemporary music that is positive and openly supports issues related to human equality and justice; and
WHEREAS, Since its formation, the RCC has sought, through artistic excellence, to foster gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and supportive community spirit and pride, as well as to encourage the acceptance of sexual minorities by the wider community in Western PA; and
WHEREAS, Sunday, May 16, 2010 will mark an unforgettable evening of events at Spring for Dinner, an event benefiting the Renaissance City Choir, including a spectacular dinner with Bob Sendall of All in Good Taste Productions followed by a cabaret style sing-along.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes the Renaissance City Choir for presenting innovative programming of the highest quality, encouraging cooperation with the GLBT community, locally and nationally, and representing the GLBT community as a visible participant in our region's cultural life; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 11, 2010, Renaissance City Choir Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
