WHEREAS, this year heralds the 20th anniversary of the founding of Shepherd Wellness Community, the only AIDS Community Center in Western Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, the 20-year history of Shepherd Wellness Community mirrors the stories of courage, commitment, caring and sharing that mark the course of the disease; and WHEREAS, Shepherd Wellness Community is a non-judgmental, non-sectarian, gathering place for all people infected by HIV/AIDS and their loved ones and friends; and WHEREAS, Shepherd Wellness Community is unique in the region for the type of personal, non-clinical support it provides to HIV positive individuals and those affected by the disease through support groups, social outings, transportation services, alternative therapies, wellness education programs and Wellness Dinners. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the 20th Anniversary of Shepherd Wellness Community and commends it for creating a safe and caring...

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares September 9th, 2007, "Shepherd Wellness Community Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
