WHEREAS, the 2003 -2004 North Catholic girls basketball team, the Trojanettes, continued a fine tradition of strong teams having reached the playoffs for 29 straight years, including 7 State Championships; and
WHEREAS, the 2003-2004 Trojanettes, coached by head coach Molly Rottmann, assistants Bill Larkin, Ken Price, and Ron Shanahan, and led by seniors Allison Balestrino, Sarah Miller, Michelle Capizzi and Sara Prybyl, posted an overall record of 24 wins and 6 losses, won their 13th WPIAL Championship in team history, including their second consecutive WPIAL title; and
WHEREAS, the Trojanettes were ranked #1 in the WPIAL class AAA and #2 in the state in AAA for the entire season; and
WHEREAS, the Trojanettes won the pre-season Upper St. Clair Tournament by defeating eventual state champion Monessen High School in the first round and then Upper St. Clair in the championship game, and won their own Christmas Tournament by defeating both Thomas Jefferson High School and Mt. Lebanon High School in the championship game; and
WHEREAS, after going undefeated in Section 4 and securing the WPIAL title, the Trojanettes advanced to the quarterfinals of the High School Girl's State Tournament before losing to eventual State Runner-up Lewistown High School; and
WHEREAS, Senior Sara Prybyl and Junior Rachel Frederick became part of a very elite group of North Catholic Trojanettes by becoming 1,000 point scorers this season;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the coaches, players, and all others who have helped make the 2003-2004 North Catholic girls basketball team a success.
