Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh acknowledges and commends the work and accomplishments of John H. Hunt (Johnny Angel); and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Tuesday, March 14, 2006 as "Johnny Angel Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, John H. Hunt, better known to Pittsburghers as Johnny Angel, has been an entertainer for more than 40 years, playing and singing with groups such as the "Shirelles", "Bo Didley", Marvelettes", "Eddie Holman", "Temptations", and of course, as the lead singer of "Johnny Angel and the Halos"; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt has been extremely active in the City of Pittsburgh, assisting with community groups, radio and television stations, and sports teams; and
WHEREAS, some of the many examples of his work include television and radio commercials for Eat n' Park, Classic Chevrolet, West View Danceland II, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the world premiere of the movie "Angels in the Outfield", Fit America, Healthy Performance, Atria's Restaurants, MAC Travel, and the "Rockin' Roldies Showcase"; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt has appeared in three casts of the musical "Grease" playing roles such as "Rump" and "Teen Angel", has appeared with John McIntyre on PCNC's "Night Talk", and has assisted public fund drives, local holiday specials, PBS specials for "DooWop" in Pittsburgh, the "Sounds of Pittsburgh" video, and another PBS special hosted in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt has proudly sung the National Anthem for a countless number of groups, some of which include the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, and also at many different events such as the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial dinner, hosted by Governor Tom Ridge; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt was an instructor and speaker at the Vocal Group Hall of Fame Museum's "Words, Notes, and Chords" scholastic program, was a record collector expert panel member and guest speaker at the Andy Warhol Museum's "Vinyl" show, and was also a spokesperson for "Little Sisters of the Poor's Happiest 100 Year Old" event; and
WHEREAS, while working and appearing in so many different places throughout his career, Johnny Angel has always remained devoted to his hometown, the North Side of Pittsburgh
