Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize commend Richard Nicklos for his dedicated educational contribution to the community and his years of service to the City of Pittsburgh

Whereas, Mr. Richard Nicklos is retiring from the Pittsburgh Board of Education after 39 years of dedicated service. A recognition retirement dinner honoring him will be held at Trivoli Restaurant on Saturday, June 18th, 2005. His service with the Board has been from 1966 to 2005; and
 
Whereas Mr. Nicklos graduated from Schenley High School in 1957 and continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh where he received his Bachelors degree; and
 
Whereas, Mr. Nicklos began his teaching career at Lemington Elementary School from 1966 to 1970, a Principal at Manchester from 1970 to 1981, and as principal at East Hills Elementary from 1981 to present where he has dramatically effected the lives of countless children; and    
 
Whereas, Mr. Nicklos is a member of several committees which includes the P.E.P. (Board PFT Committee), the District Elementary Cabinet, the Principals' Grass Roots Committee, and the Principals' Mentoring Committee; and
 
Whereas, Mr. Richard Nicklos has several awards including, "The Gift of Time Award", the "Speech Award" in 2003 for his work with the Speech Division, was presented the first "Gold Star Award" for administrative leadership. Mr. Nicklos was a trainer at the IUP Assessment Center for Principals, and featured on the 1995 Black History Moment on KDKA; and
 
Whereas, Mr. Richard Nicklos is married to Patricia Ann and is the youngest of four children. He enjoys roller skating, watching basketball games, and spending quality time with his family.
