WHEREAS, volunteers who have stepped out of their familiar environments to meet needs not otherwise met through their service are a fundamental part of the community. Nabhi Christian Ministries, whose mission is to enhance impoverished communities by creating healthy environments that mentor, train and develop citizens of all ages recognizes the work and sacrifices of Deidre Lesesne with their Community Service Leadership Award; and,
WHEREAS, well known and beloved throughout Pittsburgh, Deidre Lesesne works as a Development Associate for the University of Pittsburgh Medical and Health Science Foundation, having done similar work for NEED and Easter Seals of Western PA, but is best known for her talent as a professional comedian; and,
WHEREAS, Deidre has devoted long hours hosting special events for low income and homeless children and families for Nabhi Christian Ministries. She volunteers and hosts the Kid’s Annual Christmas Reunion and the Drug Free Gingerbread House contest each year and works tirelessly with Nabhi Christian Ministries to distribute new winter coats, backpacks and school supplies. Through her craft and her dedication, she teaches life skills and critical thinking to the children she touches; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Deidre Lesesne for her dedication and commitment to the children of her community and congratulates her for receiving the Nabhi Christian Ministries Community Service Leadership Award.
