WHEREAS, Michael "Hack" Tracy was known as a welcoming and kind Pittsburgher, whose love for his community and Morningside neighbors was second only to his affection and commitment to his family; and
WHEREAS, upon retiring in 2017, Mike had dedicated 28 years of his life to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, where he took on many different roles and played key parts in numerous initiatives, including the Bureau's gun buyback program, all the while taking the utmost pride in the work and good he did for his City. An outgoing, personable, and friendly officer, Mike especially loved working during Steelers and Pitt games on the City's North Shore; and
WHEREAS, Mike was a role model in his community, where he spent countless time with young boys and girls of Morningside as a baseball and softball coach who never missed a single one of his players' games. He was a supportive and encouraging figure to his players and the young people in his community, but was always ready to provide a stern voice on important lessons. He pushed these young men and women to pursue their dreams and passions, and chase opportunities for higher education; and
WHEREAS, despite years of battling heart disease, Mike remained a visible and cherished staple of Morningside and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, still willing to lend a helping hand and serve others; and
WHEREAS, tragically, after a two-year wait upon being added to a heart transplant list, no replacement was found, and Mike passed away earlier this year; and
WHEREAS, Mike is survived by his wife Janet and his children Michael, Matthew, Jonathan, and Janet, whose support and love sustained him throughout his illness; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his beautiful family, Mike's legacy is one of kindness, charity, dedication, and pride in the City of Pittsburgh; and
