Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Council of the City of Pittsburgh calls on the Pennsylvania State Senate to take immediate action and pass HB 2200; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution shall be transmitted to all members of the Pennsylvania State Senate.

WHEREAS, HB 2200 would provide the necessary support for businesses and residents across the Commonwealth to implement energy savings measures, including HVAC modernization and lighting upgrades, and
 
WHEREAS, HB2200 would also ensure that every Pennsylvania electricity consumer would have greater control over their energy use through a smart meter; and
 
WHEREAS, out of all states, Pennsylvania is 44th in per capita spending on energy efficiency by utility companies; and
 
WHEREAS; HB 2200 would require utilities to reduce overall energy output by 2.5% over the next five years; and
 
WHEREAS, HB 2200 is a significant step forward in Pennsylvania in the establishment of a green jobs initiative and green economics revitalization; and
 
WHEREAS, HB 2200 will provide thousands of well paying jobs for Pennsylvanians helping other Pennsylvanians save money and energy; and
 
WHEREAS, HB 2200 passed the State House with bi-partisan support and is currently under consideration in committee in the State Senate.
