Title: WHEREAS, UCP Kids Pittsburgh will be holding a community forum entitled "The Art of Friendship," on February 28, 2007; and WHEREAS, this workshop will discuss the cultivation and maintenance of friendships between children with and without disabilities; and WHEREAS, the event will feature Bob Palko and Steve McGough, who are the fathers of Tyler Palko, quaterback of the Pitt Panthers football team, and Chris McGough, a high school senior and the student manager of the West Allegheny High School football team, who also happens to have Down syndrome; and WHEREAS, Mr. Palko and Mr. McGough will discuss how their sons developed a lasting friendship over the years; and WHEREAS, UCP Kids assists children with disabilities in becoming involved in inclusive community recreation opportunities and provides resources to educate the community on welcoming children with diverse abilities; and WHEREAS, UCP Kids presents educational conferences on topics important to families and profe...

WHEREAS, this workshop will discuss the cultivation and maintenance of friendships between children with and without disabilities; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and thanks UCP Kids for its community forum on friendship; and  
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares February 27, 2007, "The Art of Friendship Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
