Title: WHEREAS, Peter Leo has had a distinguished career in journalism over 37 years, 29 of which were spent at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; and, WHEREAS; Peter Leo has spent 17 of those years as a humor columnist, delighting readers with observations about aggressive elderly shoppers at the Giant Eagle and flapping PAT bus windows and coining phrases such as "Tomb of the Unknown Bowler" at PPG Place and Pittsburgh's "Par 3 Subway System" and, WHEREAS, Peter Leo's columns have delighted readers for years with satire, wit and humor about the regions' people and culture and have earned him the title of "Pittsburgh's Honorary Humorist" ; and, WHEREAS, Peter Leo retired from active journalism on April 30, 2007, and will be honored at a Retirement Party on May 19, 2007, at the Penn Brewery where family, friends and journalistic colleagues will honor him for establishing a legacy that captured the humorous slices of Pittsburgh life. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Peter Leo as "Pittsburgh's Honorary Humorist"; and,
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh notes Peter Leo's retirement and does hereby declare May 19, 2007, to be  "PETER LEO DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
