Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVE, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise for its efforts to assist economically disadvantaged communities; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, April 8, 2016, to be "PACE DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise (PACE) is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1968 through a partnership of the United Fund and the Community Chest, the Health and Welfare Association, the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and key leaders in the African American community; and,

 

WHEREAS, the mission of PACE is to strengthen the community-based nonprofit organizations that assist African American and economically disadvantaged communities; and,

 

WHEREAS, since its inception, PACE has provided over $10 million in grants plus technical assistance to over 300 nonprofit organizations in neglected areas of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County; and,

 

WHEREAS, on April 8, 2016, PACE will host its 8th annual Inclusive Voices event which is a community exchange luncheon that celebrates the power of conversation; and,

 

WHEREAS, this year, 34 leaders in the fields of business, art, philanthropy, diversity, law, education, religion, healthcare and government will host a table and pose questions and share experiences to spark discussion among the attendees; and,

 

WHEREAS, Inclusive Voices provides a forum to allow those with different life experiences and perspectives to engage in meaningful dialogue; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVE,  that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise for its efforts to assist economically disadvantaged communities; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, April 8, 2016, to be “PACE DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
