Resolution authorizing naming the unnamed pavilion in West End Park to the “Steve Beshenich Pavilion”.

WHEREAS, Steve Beshenich was a lifelong resident of the West End, where he grew up on Kerr Street; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Steve Beshenich was a highly decorated soldier who fought in Vietnam and was discharged from the Marine Corp in the early 1970’s; and,

 

WHEREAS, he cared deeply about his community. Long after being discharged, Steve actively tried to help troubled kids from the neighborhood of Elliott and surrounding areas.

 

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

 

Section 1.                     Pursuant to Chapter 173 of the City Code, titled “Commission on Naming Public Properties” the Mayor and Director of Public Works are hereby authorized and directed to name the unnamed pavilion at West End Park the “Steve Beshenich Pavilion”
