Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and honors Sherry Kloss for her achievements and recognition as "one of the foremost violinists of her generation" and her dedication to the legacy of Jascha Heifetz and the furtherance of artistic excellence in the City of Pittsburgh through the Music Institute for the Development of Personal Style.

WHEREAS,  Sherry Kloss, a native of Pittsburgh and graduate of Carrick High School and the Julliard School of Music is professor of violin and distinguished professor of music at Ball State Indiana and has performed to great acclaim throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia; and
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Kloss studied with violin virtuoso Jascha Heifetz and was Master Assistant in charge of his world renowned violin class until his death; upon which he bequeathed to her his 1736 Tononi violin that she now performs on;  and
 
WHEREAS, despite being in much demand as a performer, recording artist, jurist, radio personality and author, Ms. Kloss remains strongly committed to education and presents master classes in music conservatories, universities and music festivals throughout the world including a recent residency at the Eastman School of Music; and  
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Kloss, Founder and Artistic Director of the Music Institute for the Development of Personal Style on the campus of Southern Oregon University for the past ten years, has retuned to her hometown to lead this year's session for 25 students at Chatham College during the week of June 14th culminating in free concerts on June 20th at 3:00 and 7:00pm at Campbell Memorial Chapel;
