WHEREAS, The Federation of War Veterans' Societies, Inc. was formed in 1919 for the purpose of providing an annual Veterans Day Parade in the City of Pittsburgh to honor the more than 42,000 war veterans living within the City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the organization will hold its 94th annual Veterans Day Parade downtown on Monday, November 11, 2013 to honor those who have served and made great sacrifices for their country; and
WHEREAS, this year's Grand Marshall will be Commander Lindsay Weaver of the US Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Grant Street and Liberty Avenue and end at Commonwealth Place; and
WHEREAS, the Federation continues to educate the residents of the City of Pittsburgh on the importance of recognizing our veterans and all they have sacrificed, not only for the City of Pittsburgh, but also our nation; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Federation of War Veterans' Societies, Inc. for their continued dedication and hard work in making each year's Veteran's Day parade a success; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, November 11, 2013, to be "The Federation of War Veterans' Societies Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
