Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, February 25, 2003, to be “Vincent C. Lascheid, Jr. Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. Sponsored by Councilman Jim Motznik AND COUNCILMAN BILL PEDUTO CO-SPONSORED BY COUNCIL PRESIDENT GENE RICCIARDI AND COUNCIL MEMBERS BARBARA BURNS, TWANDA CARLISLE, ALAN HERTZBERG, BOB O'CONNOR AND SALA UDIN.

WHEREAS, Vincent C. Lascheid, Jr. is a native of the Pittsburgh area, attending the University of Louisville in Kentucky and the Pittsburgh Musical Academy; and
 
WHEREAS, Vince studied organ with Max Adkins and was a faculty member of Theatre Arts at Carnegie Mellon University; and
 
WHEREAS, Vince Lascheid has been the pianist for the Mt. Lebanon High School Dance Band, numerous Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera productions and other special events, as well as playing for Tex Beneke, Tommy Carlyn and touring with the Glenn Miller Band while serving in the Navy during World War II; and
 
WHEREAS, Vince settled in the South Hills, becoming a regular jazz pianist for the Suburban Room in Dormont and the upscale Colony Restaurant in Mt. Lebanon, where Pirate General Manager Joe Brown first  approached him about being the organist at the new Pirates Stadium; and
 
WHEREAS, Vince Lascheid played the organ on July 16, 1970, when Three Rivers Stadium debuted, and performed there through the farewell season in 2000, and has played for four championship Pittsburgh teams; and
 
WHEREAS, Vince also found time to play the organ for 20 years at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, teach piano and organ, and operate two retail music stores.
 
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Vincent Lascheid for his lifelong love of music and commends him for his years spent entertaining the fans who attend the games of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, February 25, 2003, to be "Vincent C. Lascheid, Jr. Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
