WHEREAS, on Saturday, July 26, 2008, "Dick Frank Way" will be dedicated in the Beechview neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, the strength of Pittsburgh's neighborhoods is often found in their commitment to young people and the skillful leadership of residents who choose to serve their community; and,
WHEREAS, in the neighborhood of Beechview, skillful leadership and commitment to young people has been embodied in Coach Dick Frank, a life long resident, a graduate of South Hills High School, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Dick Frank served for 24 years as the Football Coach at Saint Catherine's School and for 12 years as a Baseball Manager for the Beechview Athletic Association and was honored in 1985 as the Dapper Dan Youth Coach of the Year; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Dick Frank is the father of four children and the grandfather of five grandchildren, but has touched the lives of hundreds of young Beechview athletes; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Dick Frank's example as a coach has led many of his players to careers in sports at the high school, college and professional levels, and the lessons he taught to the athletes on the field of play developed not only winning teams but also leaders in our community and beyond.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh shall rename Coast Avenue, at the intersection of Broadway Avenue, "Dick Frank Way" in honor of his commitment to the community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, in recognition of his contribution to the neighborhood of Beechview and the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby proclaim Saturday, July 26, 2008 as "Dick Frank Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
