Title: WHEREAS, on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI named the Most Reverend David Zubik as the Twelfth Bishop of the Diocese of Pittsburgh of the Roman Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, Bishop Zubik was born to Stanley and Susan Zubik September 4, 1949 in Sewickley and lived for many years in Ambridge where they belonged to Good Samaritan Parish ; and WHEREAS, he attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and St. Veronica High School in Ambridge before entering St. Paul Seminary in Pittsburgh; and WHEREAS, after being ordained to the Priesthood by Bishop Vincent Leonard on May 3, 1975, Father Zubik served as Parochial Vicar at Sacred Heart Parish in Shadyside until July 1980; and WHEREAS, over the years Bishop Zubik has held many positions in the Pittsburgh Diocese including, but not limited to Vice-Principal of Quigley Catholic High School, Chaplain to the Sisters of St. Joseph and students at Mt. Gallitzin Academy, Administrative Secretary to then-Bishop Anthony Bevilacqu...

WHEREAS, Bishop Zubik was born to Stanley and Susan Zubik September 4, 1949 in Sewickley and lived for many years in Ambridge where they belonged to Good Samaritan Parish ; and

Gallitzin Academy, Administrative Secretary to then-Bishop Anthony Bevilacqua, Director of Clergy Personnel and in 1997 was ordained auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, and
 
WHEREAS, on October 10, 2003, Pope John Paul II named Bishop Zubik the eleventh Bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay Wisconsin, was installed on December 12, 2003 and faithfully served the people of Green Bay until being called back to Pittsburgh as the twelfth Bishop and the fifth "native son" to lead the faithful Catholics of the City.
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh warmly welcomes Bishop David Zubik back home, thanks him for accepting the commitment to lead the Roman Catholic Church and looks forward to working with him for many years to come.
