WHEREAS, The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh, celebrating their 41st season, was first formed as the Westminster Community Singers in 1966 and in 1976, under the directorship of Rita Huckle, became The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh, a non-profit volunteer group that performs musical revues and choral presentations, consists of men and women who span many ages and who enjoy performing throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area. The members come from many walks of life, and include teachers, engineers, nurses, counselors, bus drivers, bank executives, interior designers, housing managers, salespeople, and our own City employees, Bernie Komoroski and Connie Lee Walsh; and,
WHEREAS, The Harmony Singers have sung the National Anthem at Pittsburgh Pirates and Riverhounds Games, and perform for service and professional organizations, churches, schools, and at Pittsburgh Senior Citizen Events; and,
WHEREAS, each year The Harmony Singers choose a worthy organization to receive a charitable contribution. Past recipients include the Children's Home of Pittsburgh, the Whales Tale, Children's Hospital, the Alzheimer's Association, and the Rotary Foundation. The 2007 recipient is the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank; and,
WHEREAS, the major yearly performance of The Harmony Singers is their Annual Spring Revue, which will be presented on April 20th, 21st, and 22nd, at Baldwin High School, under the direction of Cynthia Pratt, Accompanist Carol Karl, and Choreographers Marianne Shaffer and Audrey Rajakovich; and
WHEREAS, President Rick Campbell, along with Board Members Bernie Komoroski, Laurie Peter, Sue Fritsch, and Judy Weddell, have titled this season's show "Great American Harmony", which will feature musical numbers ranging from Broadway to Big Band to Classical, as well as songs by Stephen Foster, Henry Mancini and Stephen Flaherty; and,
