WHEREAS, St. Mary of the Mount Alumni is proudly celebrating their 100th year anniversary; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Mary of the Mount Alumni was under the outstanding guidance of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and just recently experienced the devastating passing of Sister Mary Bride O'Malley IHM, who acted as the alumni's longstanding president and former teacher and principal at the school; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Mary of the Mount Alumni has held events each year, including the Bishop Leonard St. Mary of the Mount Academy Angel Fund Dinner held at the LeMont, help raise funds for the tuition assistance program for the students at Bishop Leonard St. Mary of the Mount Academy; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Mary of the Mount Alumni are honored by all their successful members, especially Donald Cardinal Wuerl, who continues to take part in events and be an active member of the alumni association; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the St. Mary of the Mount Alumni for 100 years of dedication to their members, to the Bishop Leonard St. Mary of the Mount Academy, and all the numerous students who have benefitted from the efforts of the alumni association; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 1, 2012, to be "St. Mary of the Mount Alumni Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
