WHEREAS, Mark Hirschfeld, son of Leyla and Jerry Hirschfeld, is a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 296; and
WHEREAS, Mark Hirschfeld will be honored at a Ceremony on November 20, 2004 at Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church; and
WHEREAS, Mark's Eagle Scout Project involved applying for Neighborhood Needs Funds from the City of Pittsburgh, organizing materials and volunteers to refurbish the War Memorial on the corner of Obey Avenue and Steuben Street in the 28th Ward, City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, with Mark's leadership the war memorial now has a new bronze plaque, new retaining wall with landscaping and a new 20 foot illuminated flag poll ; and
WHEREAS, only those young men who have been outstanding in scouting, have the esteem of their community and fellow scouts and serve in a position of responsibility and leadership obtain Eagle Scout status, the highest rank in the boy scouts.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby congratulates Eagle Scout Mark Hirschfeld on his recent achievement and commends him for his accomplishments.
