Title: WHEREAS, National Coming Out Day, first celebrated in the US in 1988, is celebrated across the country on October 11, 2023; and,

WHEREAS, National Coming Out Day, first celebrated in the US in 1988, is celebrated across the country on October 11, 2023; and,

WHEREAS, Dr. Robert E. Eichberg and Jean O'Leary chose October 11, 1988, as 'National Coming Out Day' as it marked the one-year anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights; and,

WHEREAS, National Coming Out Day celebrates the strength and courage that members of the LGBTQIA+ community exhibit by being their authentic selves even in the face of discrimination; and,

WHEREAS, National Coming Out Day promotes awareness, acceptance, and empathy to "let people know who we are and disabuse them of their fears and stereotypes"; and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Business Alliance (3RBA) is a nonprofit organization serving the LGBTQIA+ community as the Pittsburgh LGBTQIA+ Chamber of Commerce; and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Business Alliance is an affiliate of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC); and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Business Alliance works to support and empower LGBTQIA+ business owners and their allies in the Pittsburgh and Greater Allegheny region; and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Business Alliance is committed to using education, advocacy, diversity, leadership, and partnerships to uplift and support the economic interests of the LGBTQIA+ community of the Pittsburgh area; and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Business Alliance is dedicated to diversifying the Pittsburgh/Greater Allegheny region's business community; and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Business Alliance's mission contributes to the economic vitality and resiliency of our region; and,

WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Business Alliance is celebrating LGBTQIA+ business owners at the OUT at Work Luncheon on October 11, 2023; and,

WHEREAS, this event focuses on uplifting and supporting the journeys of LGBTQIA+ employees and strengthening diversity and inclusion efforts throughout the city.
