Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Pittsburgh congratulates the Oakland Catholic High School's girls basketball team on a successful season and state championship title; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Tuesday, March 29, 2005 "Oakland Catholic High School Girls Basketball Team Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, Oakland Catholic High School is an all-girls school located in the Oakland section of the City of Pittsburgh and under the jurisdiction of the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese; and

 

WHEREAS, the Oakland Catholic High School's girls basketball team won their fourth state championship since 1993 on Friday, March 18, 2005 in Hershey, PA; the second state title for the team in three years; and

 

WHEREAS, the team won against Cheltenham High School by a score of 55-37; and

 

WHEREAS, the team is coached by Rich Irr and led by seniors Sarah Bucar, Julie Oggier, Brianne O'Rourke, Eve Pyle, and Shannon Benic,  juniors Chartella Jennings, Carmella Breslin, Becca Rothenberger, Aysha Jones, Bridget Finnegan, Brittany Sams, and Angela Tassari, and sophomores Amanda Sedlock, Erica Prosser, and Vickery Lauro; and

 

WHEREAS, the team has compiled a season record of 31-2.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Tuesday, March 29, 2005 "Oakland Catholic High School Girls Basketball Team Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
