WHEREAS, Linda R. Wortham, an only child, was born in Michigan and raised in North Carolina and Pittsburgh before graduating from Schenley High School, Duff’s Business Institute and attended the University of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, Linda has been a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for over 50 years, working tirelessly in that time as a Sunday School teacher, Trustee, Nursery Director, Youth and Young Adult Director, and more; and,
WHEREAS, Linda has participated in several mission trips and many local, state, and national conventions; and,
WHEREAS, Linda brought the same spirit of volunteerism to her professional work at BNY Mellon for 38 years before retiring by leading many volunteer groups for Junior Achievement, Scouting for Food, Junior Diabetes Walk, Central Blood Bank and more; and,
WHEREAS, Linda has continued to volunteer in retirement with many organizations her volunteerism at the Veterans Center has brought her much joy by giving back to those who served our Country; and,
WHEREAS, Linda is known for saying “A Smile is Forever” and brings those smiles through her tireless commitment to others; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commends Linda R. Wortham; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, to be “Linda R. Wortham Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
