Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize City Theater as a civic and/or service organization within the context of the Pennsylvania Small Games of Chance Act, as amended.

Body

WHEREAS, Founded in 1975, City Theatre began as the City Players, a touring arts company that performed in schools, parks, and housing projects across the City of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1987 City Theater Company moved to the historic South Side Neighborhood, taking up residence in the former Bingham United Methodist Church, and after completing extensive renovations and updates to the building opened for its first season in 1991; and,

 

WHEREAS, City Theater is an asset to the South Side neighborhood and the City as a whole, serving as one of the most important cultural institutions south of the “Mon;” and,

 

WHEREAS, the City Theater desires from time to time to hold raffles and other small games of chance as part of neighborhood social functions and organizational fundraisers; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize City Theater as a civic and/or service organization within the context of the Pennsylvania Small Games of Chance Act, as amended.
