Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh on its 40 years of advocacy for excellent design in Pittsburgh; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Saturday, November 8, 2008, “Community Design Center of Pittsburgh Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, November 8, 2008, the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh (CDCP) will host The Palladian Ball Revival to commemorate its 40th anniversary; and
 
WHEREAS, CDCP previously hosted the Palladian Ball for four years in a row starting in 1988 and ending in 1991 with each year having a different theme and location; and
 
WHEREAS, guests of the event will be asked to dress with design in mind and are encouraged to wear costumes in the Beaux Arts tradition; and
 
WHEREAS, CDCP is a nonprofit organization which aims to promote quality building design in order to improve quality of life, and hopes to establish Pittsburgh, by 2015, as a city recognized for the excellence of its designed environment; and
 
WHEREAS, since its establishment in 1968, CDCP has made quality design more affordable for Pittsburgh area property owners and raised awareness of the need for good design through several different programs.
